OUR BREEDING PROGRAM
AN OUTLINE OF OUR STANDARDS AND PRACTICE.
To us here at Wilmer Cattery Bengals, breeding for good genetics and temperament is absolutely paramount. All our bengal breeders are tested for genetic Bengal Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA-b) and PK Deficiency (Erythrocyte Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency) and are regularly vetted to ensure supreme health ( FIV, FeLV, and FIP negative) before joining and whilst in our breeding programs. We also perform coat color testing, so we can properly plan and have more control over the litters born. In this way, we can breed to meet requests of potential new adoptive families and ensure that the majority of our kittens have loving homes to go to even before they are born.
We have been blessed to find great mentors, both here and interstate, and the Wilmer Cattery breeding program works in and with these other selected begal cat breeders, to improve and maintain the good standards already obtained within the breed. We hope that if you are reading this as an individual looking to adopt or reserve one of our kittens that you find this website informative and that you would feel free to ask of us any questions that you might have about our Bengals or the breed in general.
Many thanks and we hope to hear from you soon.
